EASA Aeroplane and TMG pilot licencing CAA temporary exemption update

The UK CAA has recently published CAA exemption no 1293 re the requirement to hold a Part-FCL Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) when acting as pilot in command of a UK registered aeroplane or TMG with an EASA Certificate of Airworthiness or EASA Permit to Fly within the privileges of the LAPL.

This exemption extends the period to 7 Apr 2020 during which pilots of EASA aeroplanes and TMGs can continue to operate with an appropriate non-EASA licence as defined by the UK ANO, eg PPL or NPPL but limited to LAPL privileges.

Sailplane pilots are reminded that pilots of UK registered EASA sailplanes are exempt from the requirement to hold an SPL or LAPL(S) until 7th April 2020.
