Grass Growing Weather

The recent run of rain followed by sunshine provides near ideal conditions for growing grass. Risks associated with long grass include wing drop during launch and landing, and longer ground roll on takeoff.

The CAA’s publication ‘Strip Flying’ suggests that ‘grass height should be not more than 30% of the diameter of the aircraft’s main wheels and ideally shorter.’
