Operations Manager – Bidford Gliding and Flying Club

To help with our continued growth and expansion an exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager at Bidford Gliding and Flying Club.  The Operations Manager will provide a central contact point for all flying activity at the club and play a key role in promoting the club to new customers and maintaining the day-to-day effectiveness of all flying operations.

Initially, the Operations Manager is required to work three days a week on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Additional working days may be required as the level of business expands, including the need to work on bank holidays during the summer period (March to October).  The club is happy to discuss flexible working arrangements where required.

No formal qualifications are required but it would be advantageous for the Operations Manager to have a passion for aviation. The successful candidates would need to possess:

  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Sensitivity and empathy in dealing with club members and the public,
  • Resourcefulness to deal proactively with the operational challenges of running an active airfield,
  • Ability to take initiative and resolve problems as they arise,
  • Thorough attention to detail and highly organised,
  • High levels of confidentiality, credibility and integrity,
  • Ability to competently utilise administrative software.

The Operations Manager requires a good understanding of flying and gliding operations and ideally will have some practical flying experience.  If necessary, experience can be gained in the role and the club will provide discounted gliding lessons to the successful candidate
