Airspace Change Proposal – BVLOS Temporary Danger Area
An Airspace Change Proposal (ACP) for a Temporary Danger Area (TDA) is under consultation with a closing date of 22 September 2023.
The two commercial drone companies intend to extend a previous Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) trial into a larger trial protected by segregated airspace.
The BGA recognises the need to accommodate unmanned aviation platform operations. The proposed disproportionately sized TDA will have a significant negative impact on existing users of Class G airspace. Until such time as certified detect and avoid technology is available or there is a process that can utilise existing EC (similar to EASA’s ADS-Light) that can enable co-existence rather than segregate via a TDA, unmanned aviation must work around manned aviation. The proposed ACP is unreasonable and unjustified.
The BGA will be responding alongside the GA Alliance. Please do let us know how you would be impacted by the proposal were it successfully implemented.
