Wolds Gliding Club
Wolds Gliding Club is based in the historic market town of Pocklington in East Yorkshire.
We are a large club with a modern high quality of fleet of aircraft. Our fleet comprises 4 two seat training aircraft, 3 single seat gliders of varying performance (and age), a motor glider and 3 tow planes. We are in the process of upgrading our fleet and once the new glider with hand controls for disabled pilots arrives, we will be able to train anyone to fly that can hold a drivers licence.
We fly 7 days a week, all year round. Instruction is available most days of the week (Monday and Tuesdays are not on a rota so are usually weather dependent.) for all pilots. You’re welcome to come any day that we’re flying for instruction. Our team of instructors hold a daily briefing at 9.30am and will be only to happy to work with you.
As a club we have various flying weekends focussed on promoting cross country flying to pilots who have recently gone solo. We also host the hugely popular Two Seater Competition every year which give opportunities to pilots of all abilities to compete in a gliding competition. This year we even had someone from Cyprus join us!
For junior members, we offer discounted membership and we can support with Duke of Edinburgh Award activities (skills and volunteering) as well as offering you excellent support as your learn. We have had junior members progress into the air force and commercial aviation – you could start your flying career with us now.
You can buy a voucher here to give someone the gift of flight as a present. Visitors are also welcome to pop in any time to try gliding. Please contact the office for further information on this.
