Temporary admission across the EU border
Glider owners residing outside the EU or whose equipment is not in free circulation within the EU are politely reminded that customs regulations define the maximum length of stay for aircraft, vehicles, or trailers registered in a non-EU country. For example, as highlighted by our friends at the FFVP, French customs has confirmed that the maximum duration allowed is 6 consecutive months. Should any overstay or other infringements of the ‘temporary admission’ rules occur, there could be consequences, including the payment of (for example) French VAT at 20% on the residual value of equipment along with potential fines.
