Scottish Airspace Modernisation – Stage 3 Gateway Update

Scottish Airspace Modernisation is a coordinated programme of three Airspace Change Proposals (ACP’s) sponsored by Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport and NATS with the quoted shared aim of delivering quicker, quieter, more resilient and environmentally cleaner journeys to meet the aim of the Government’s Airspace Modernisation Strategy.

Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport are responsible for the modernisation of their departure and arrival routes and the associated controlled airspace below 7,000ft, and NATS is responsible for connecting these routes into the higher-level airspace network at and above 7,000ft.  The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reviewed Stage 3 documents from Edinburgh Airport, Glasgow Airport and NATS (known as ‘sponsors’) and the three sponsors have now successfully passed the Consult/Engage Gateway of the CAP1616 airspace change process.

The sponsors will now begin preparations to deliver a coordinated public consultation which is expected to launch ‘in due course’.  The BGA will engage with the consultation co-ordinated with impacted clubs and other GA organisations.

Further information on the three Scottish Airspace Modernisation ACPs can be found on the Airspace Change Portal using the link(s) below:
