Fairford Temporary TMZ – update
Following BGA engagement with the Fairford TMZ controlling authority, the Fairford TMZ has been significantly modified in shape to facilitate cross-country routing by non-transponder equipped aircraft.
The modified TMZ can be viewed in this AIS AIP Briefing Sheet dated 19 June 2026.
Pilots flying in the vicinity must ensure that they are familiar with the TMZ requirements, including the need to be equipped with a transponder to access the TMZ.
Pilots are additionally reminded that no-notice activation of Fairford based USAF aircraft can result in significant activity to the immediate north west outside the TMZ. As ever, radio calls made to air traffic units (in this case Brize Norton) assist with situational awareness.
