Two new frequencies for GA use
Effective immediately, two frequencies, 123.065 MHz and 123.135 MHz, have been assigned for air-to-air communication for General Aviation.
These channels are intended for sharing important safety information in situations where pilots are operating without ATC or FIS support. They can be used for:
sharing weather-related information
coordinating formation flights
flights in areas without ATC (Airspace Class G and E), flights in areas without FIS coverage, supporting local flying club activities or competitions, general co-ordination between aircraft
The frequencies will eventually be allocated Europe-wide to enable cross-border communication without the necessity to retune to other channels.
We suggest these channels are left for use by our aeroplane flying colleagues. Glider pilots are reminded about the available situational awareness frequencies used by gliding – you can read more here.
