Electronic Conspicuity Mandate Consultation
The CAA will launch a consultation on its proposed Electronic Conspicuity (EC) mandate on the 14th July 2026. The consultation will close on the 22nd September 2026.
The CAA is proposing a UK-wide mandate for use of ADS-B capable EC by all aircraft other than the military and will be seeking inputs on various detailed points relating to that mandate. Stated justification for the mandate that essentially aims to support the drone industry includes ‘safety and risk reduction, interoperability and system consistency, supporting integration and equitable access, practicality and deliverability, and regulatory clarity and certainty’.
The BGA will of course review the consultation and in due course provide supportive information to gliding clubs and pilots that choose to respond.
