Vintage Gliding
Older gliders (most excluded from EASA regulation as non-EASA types) are known as Vintage gliders. Despite some examples originating from the early part of the 20th century, these aren’t museum exhibits – the gliders are maintained in an airworthy condition and flown alongside any other type of glider. Vintage gliding is a significant element of the wider international gliding community and welcomes anyone who has an interest in preserving, flying or just being around historic gliders.
The Gliding Heritage Centre at Lasham airfield includes an impressive number of vintage gliders which are available for viewing by arrangement. For more information, please refer to their website at http://www.glidingheritage.org.uk
The Vintage Glider Club, which offers various services relating specifically to Vintage gliders, is an associate member of the BGA. For more information please refer to their website at http://www.vintagegliderclub.org
