Chilterns Gliding Club
Chilterns Gliding Club, based at RAF Halton in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a regional club of the RAF Gliding and Soaring Association. The club operates via winch and aerotow from the grass airfield at weekends, public holidays and occasional weekdays, weather permitting. We are also proud to host the University College London Gliding Club.
The club provides trial flights for all those interested in finding out about the thrill of gliding, with priority given to members of the armed forces and their dependants.
Membership is open to service personnel of all ranks, civil servants, MoD contractors, veterans, and to their dependants, RAF volunteer reserve, university air squadrons, CCF and cadets, and to civilian members where priority will be given to those that can offer help or expertise to the club. No qualifications are necessary; the club can train pilots from ab initio to solo to instructor and has an excellent, modern fleet of aircraft that meet all aspirations. The club is operated by its members and so the only requirement is an interest in gliding and a willingness to share in the running of the club!
New members are always welcome at the club, but please contact us through the enquiries email below to arrange your first visit.
