Club Development Weekly Sessions
Weekly Sessions 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Weekly sessions for people who run development activities in gliding clubs.
These free sessions give you the opportunity to discuss topical club development matters with other people who run gliding clubs. Registration required – to join in, simply sign up at the bottom of this page.
Since these sessions began in November 2020, new links have been made and much experience & information has been shared between clubs large & small, near & far, winch & aerotow, thermal & ridge. People who attend regularly find them invaluable.
We record presentations, but not discussions, so there is no danger of comments being played back later and taken out of context.
The sessions are facilitated by the BGA Development Committee, but it is not unusual for other members of the BGA team to attend, and to lead specialist sessions.
Come and join in – it is a friendly and informal gathering of people with a common interest.
You will be sent the access details when you register for your free place together with weekly reminders about each session. Registered delegates for the BGA Club Development Conference get automatic access to the virtual series and there is no need to re-register.
This series is for:
- Chairs
- Treasurers
- CFIs / deputies / coaches
- Club managers
- People who support junior development at clubs
- People who support club development at clubs
The Virtual Club Development Sessions take place on Monday evenings 7.30-8.30pm throughout the year, although we don’t meet on (English & Welsh) Bank Holidays. There is a summer break with no sessions in August.
There are three types of regular sessions:
- 2nd Monday alternates between:
- Club Financial Health (not just for Treasurers)
- Volunteer management
- 3rd Monday General session – no pre-determined topic
- Last Monday 90mins often with a guest speaker, taking a deeper dive into a topic
The remaining sessions are usually created in response to what club attendees want, or what the Development Committee can see is needed from their individual work with clubs.
