Midland Gliding Club Pro Course Instructor Wanted
Midland Gliding Club is one of the oldest and is the highest gliding club in the UK. We were established in 1934 and have been flying from our site ever since. We launch onto a five mile long west facing ridge, enjoy frequent wave in many directions and are blessed with very little controlled airspace. We are a gateway location to the whole of Wales and the rest of England.
We are a winch only site and because of our elevated position can often launch to around 3000’ above sea level. However, the local topography requires an additional skill set and an understanding of hilltop sites.
We are seeking an additional professional instructor to support our seven day a week operation next course season from mid April to late September 2023. This role does not require weekend working. Following a successful first season, a longer term relationship with the right candidate may be possible.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated, safety conscious and disciplined team player.
You will be at least a BGA Assistant Category Instructor, or equivalent and have a Class 2 Medical.
You will have experience of winch launch instructing, preferably from a hill site, though this is not essential.
You will be expected to work flexibly including winch driving, maintenance, instructing in the motor glider and staffing the office. Training will be provided in all roles where necessary. You are not required to live on site, but accommodation or a caravan space is available
The pay and benefits packages are competitive.
We will consider part time, or part of the season for the right candidates.
Further discussion is welcome and initial expressions of interest should be made by
phone to our CFI Rose Johnson on 01584 831933 or sent by email to:
The Chief Flying Instructor:
cfi@midlandgliding.club
We will follow up with a more detailed job description and terms of employment and, if you are to be considered, will ask for a detailed CV of your gliding experience.
